NBT announces the cancellation of its 2019-2020 Season Finale, Coppélia, as a result of the Covid-19 Coronavirus and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the White House to refrain from large events or group gatherings, in addition to the statewide closing of all non-essential businesses for the next 30 days.
“Since the outbreak of Covid-19, we have been monitoring updates and recommendations made by health and government authorities including the CDC and the Southern Nevada Health District, while also ensuring we are in alignment with the response plan of our performance venue and partner, The Smith Center,” said Executive Director & CEO Beth Barbre. “While it saddens us to make this difficult decision, the health and safety of our patrons, dancers, staff and students is our top priority.”
In an effort to offset the expected financial loss, NBT is asking for ticket holders to kindly consider donating the value of their tickets as a tax-deductible gift. Patrons are welcome to support in other ways such as renewing their subscriptions or through a donation.
NBT will announce its 2020-2021 Season in the coming weeks. “Art fosters creativity and hope; as we all work through this unexpected world crisis, we remain committed to sharing the beauty of our art form with the widest possible audience,” said Barbre.
NBT will be contacting all ticketholders in the coming weeks to coordinate the appropriate follow up actions.
